More positive thinking tips

I am continuously reading new books, but I always tend to go back to a few and read pages from them over and over. I want the pages of these books to imprint in my memory and stay with me so I am able to live the pages in my daily life. Whatever you spend time doing, think of it as practice... Is what you spend your time doing good practice or bad? Do you learn from the things you do? Do you feel good about yourself? Do you make choices that you are proud of? If not... Why? What is holding you back? What bad practices could you get rid of to clear up time for good practices? Think about this. MANY people say they don't have time to live a healthier lifestyle. I am trying to show you, through the entirety of my blog, how much time you can make for a healthier lifestyle. You just have to eliminate those bad practices.

I grew up watching a lot of television and movies, as did many of us in this generation. I also spent time on our desktop computer quite a bit, which led into college years of having a laptop and spending countless hours watching Netflix and YouTube. I am not saying that this was a bad decision at the time, it was something I enjoyed doing... but it didn't leave me much time to create a healthy lifestyle around me. As soon as I began to eliminate TV, I began to read more, cook more, workout more, find time for silence more, and to be honest I don't have much of an urge to watch it at all anymore. I do still find times when I am needing some down time and I will turn something on... I was recently introduced to a website called www.gaia.com it is basically like a Netflix for the spiritual junkies!! It is FANTASTIC! I highly recommend the website because so far everything I have watched I have LEARNED SO MUCH FROM. It is educational television and I think it is an extremely great way to get positive and healthy messages out to the world. Instead of my guilty pleasure shows that I would throw on before bed, I am still more inclined to read a book BUT this website is a good backup if a book isn't in the cards. In fact, because of this website my book list has grown larger because a lot of the people who are in these shows are authors of books that I cannot wait to get my hands on.

I find peace within the pages of the books that I read, so much so that I want so badly for everyone to have this peace. Try this: when you wake up each morning read a few pages from a positive and uplifting book or a book that has a subject of something that will help you accomplish your goals in life. After you read, set the book down and breathe and think about what you just read, or simply do not think at all. I like to do this outside on my porch since the weather is beautiful, choose a spot that makes you comfortable. Take even 10-15 minutes to do this right after you wake... if you're anything like me and mornings seem to come too soon, this is such an amazing way to get your mind in a positive place to start your day. And better yet, it wakes your brain up and motivates you to get going! Most times when we wake up in the morning we are not in our "right" brains yet. By "right" brain, I mean our positive, healthy, happy selves. This is something that we can change with positive practices like reading right away, or breathing in fresh air, allowing our brain to wake up in a positive and pleasant way. In order to make this a practice, we must do it every single day.

If you live with others, have children, or mornings are wild around your house and it just is not possible to get a moment alone, do this at night before bed. Once the house is quiet, utilize this time for positive thinking. If you can do both, as you know, I definitely encourage in the morning and evening (really as much as possible through out your day.) It is never wasted time if it is time working on your own positive self growth. Mothers out there reading this, remember: If momma ain't happy, ain't no body happy. Goes for the Dad's out there too (:

I hope your weekend was amazing! After a work shift, food prep, a workout, stretching, deep cleaning and organizing my apartment, dinner, and a long couple hours of working on my blog (my internet was slow tonight so uploading photos took forever!) I am going to read myself to sleep. Good vibes coming your way!
