Today I am going to leave a quote with you written by a woman named Emily. She has an Instagram called emilyjoyrosen and she posts inspiration; raw and authentic personal experiences. I relate to her. She wrote this the other day and it has stuck with me, so I will share it with you.
"I have always prided myself
on my fierce independence
In my early twenties
I never even let a man open the door for me
or pay for anything
I wanted to prove
I could do it on my own
I wanted to prove I wasn't using you
And I wanted to make sure
I didn't owe anyone anything
As I have gotten older
I recognize how this isn't actually
the most empowered way to move through the world
Letting someone assist you,

help you, care for you
is strength-
not a sign of weakness
Letting yourself receive
is an act of courage
It is daring,
especially in a world
that doesn't always encourage vulnerability
To heal, we must let the love in
Yes, take care of yourself
Yes, save yourself
And yes, love yourself
But don't close out others in the process
Let the love in
Sometimes we need help
and that is not only okay,
it's beautiful
and it's why we are all here
to wipe away each other's tears
to lift each other up
and to love,
to love unconditionally
In many ways this is why I share

in the way I do
I know that by exposing
all the tender parts of me
the parts of me I have denied love to
for so long
It is only in the hiding
that connection is hindered
So show me love
Show me all the parts of you
that you do not love
so I know where to begin."
