The more challenging the better

I love seeing and feeling the transitions in my body. I realized this week that I am becoming stronger and more balance, and at home in my own body. I understand how it works more every single day, and when it comes to being active, I have become a bit of a fitness geek. I like to indulge into more of the challenging activities now, when in years prior I would have chosen to sit out or take the easier route. I have taken some time off this last week to get out into nature and forget about some of the daily stresses I tend to bring upon myself. It has felt amazing to push my limits and take chances with my newly formed body. There is MUCH work to be done, the work never ends, but I am happy with the changes and the new found strength I have achieved. At one point of my hike the other night, I was going down an extremely steep part of the mountain and I chose to run down it, it was going smoothly at first and then I began to worry and lose balance. As soon as these thoughts entered my brain I began to fall, but I caught myself- not with my body- with my brain. I was able to tell myself NO! STOP THINKING! JUST DO! And I miraculously recovered my balance and was able to stay up on my feet. Good thing too, because I may have been hurt pretty badly if I would have fallen. This shows me, not only has my physical strength improved, my my mental (which is most important.)

My goal through out all of this is to remain consistently healthy in mind body and soul. And my standards for what health is are pretty high and continue to grow higher. Part of the consistency in staying healthy is to continue to push your own limits. The only way to grow is to be uncomfortable for a while. My favorite statement I have ever heard is; "get comfortable with being uncomfortable." It has not only changed my life, but I believe this sentence can save our lives. Being uncomfortable doesn't have to be a bad thing, we have made it a bad thing over time, but really it is all apart of the natural growing we must do as human beings. We are the most emotional and over-thinking species on this PLANET. We are also the only beings that even describe growth as uncomfort. If i can do this, so can you. SO GET COMFORTABLE BEING UNCOMFORTABLE! Push yourself, challenge yourself, and you will reward yourself.
