Turmeric comes from the root of the Curcuma longa plant, it is made into a spice or can be purchased raw. It is used in many Asian foods and is the main spice in most curry. It has been used as a powerful anti-inflammatory in both the Chinese and Indian systems of medicine. It is BRIGHT yellow/orange and adds that color to many foods we eat such as mustard, cheeses, and other spices. There is a chemical in turmeric that is called curcumin that is used to color foods and different cosmetics.
There are many ways turmeric can be beneficial to our bodies such as: anti-inflammatory needs, heartburn, loss of appetite, high cholesterol, fatigue, colds, lung infections, menstrual

problems, itchy skin, water retention, kidney problems, and the list just keeps going.
It can be applied (I suggest to dilute it with coconut oil) topically to the skin for sprains and swelling, bruising, soreness in the mouth, inflamed gums, etc.
Most of my research states that turmeric is arguably the most powerful herb on the planet at fighting and potentially reversing disease. There are around 6 thousand articles proving the benefits of turmeric (do some research yourself!) Along side turmeric some of the most beneficial herbs include ginger, garlic, cinnamon, ginseng and milk thistle. (ADD ALL OF THESE TO YOUR DIET)
When being compared to conventional medicine, turmeric's benefits equal that of many pharmaceuticals. And many studies even say that it is MORE beneficial... which would make sense simply because it is grown from the Earth rather than made in a lab. Also, curcumin (found in turmeric) shows a major lack in negative side-affects which makes it that much better.
Turmeric is low in calories and is loaded with manganese, iron, vitamin B6, fiber, and potassium. It is strong in taste, at first I found the taste interesting, but now I LOVE it. I recommend beginning to use it in dishes such as stir fry, soups, salads, taco bowls, seasoning for your veggies, etc.
There are so many ways we can heal our bodies with plants and also prevent our bodies from getting diseases by eating these plants. DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE AN ILLNESS TO TRY THIS. Do it now and avoid unnecessary disease from entering your bodies.
I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and cook with some TURMERIC!
