Choices

Somewhere along the line of our human development, we somehow got it stuck in our brains that "we have no choice." I hear this over and over in my daily life, and I catch myself doing it too. We make a choice to complain, instead of act. We make a choice to be crabby instead of happy. We choose to judge instead of accept. We choose to gossip instead of push our heads into a REAL book. We make choices that are seeminly easier or the choices that take less work. But often times these choices give us short term happiness, but can damage us in the long run... rather than taking the path that takes hard work and discipline to obtain happiness along your entire journey. The great part about making the choice to make only positive decisions for yourself, means you are making only positive decisions for the world. You will never do the world harm by indulging yourself in a book instead of gossiping, by acting to solve your problem instead of complaining, to be happy instead of crabby. We cannot lose if we make the positive choice.
Anytime I am feeling unmotivated, I ask myself why, do I need sleep? Am I hungry? Am I ill? Most of the time if none of these are the issue, then I give myself absolutely no excuse why I cannot achieve my list of things to do. I can imagine that most of you who read this have a million things on your to do lists at all times (I appreciate you a million times over for making this ANY part of your busy lives) so when we have these to do lists, I tend to notice that when I think about EVERYTHING I have to do, I get stressed out and don't want to do ANYTHING. So sit and stress about it? What is that doing? Literally... nothing. So how do we stop ourselves from becoming unmotivated? Acceptance. Accepting that I will always have things on my todo list is something that has saved me. I enjoy having a to do list because it makes me feel produtive and it actually is productive. Things on my to do list can be anything from something I need from the store, to when and where my next hike will be. I have a choice to make my to do list how ever I want to, and the goal is to just get it done. So there is no time to sit and stress because my to do lists are endless.
There is no boredom, there is no loneliness, there is nothing but pure living in the moment and checking off activities as I fulfill them. When I give myself this enjoyment of fufilling my tasks, they no long become tasks, they become life... they become a lifestyle.
Make a choice to make a lifestyle change. Dedicate yourself, stop judging yourself, stop telling others about it if you don't want their opinions, and just DO IT. Don't wait for the right time or the season to end... NOW is the only moment. Make a choice.
